Nursing Care

Morton Villa / Morton Terrace Nursing Care

Each of our homes offers a licensed nursing staff with experience in geriatric care. Our dedicated team of nurses are able to meet a variety of healthcare needs. We care for those with numerous diagnosis including, Strokes, orthopedic problems such as fractures, Dementia/Alzheimer's, Diabetes, Parkinson's and all other diagnosis of the geriatric field. Wound care and I.V. therapy are part of our health care expertise.

Special Care Unit

Morton Terrace has developed a specialized unit for those with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders that focuses on providing a quality of life for those suffering from these diseases. Staff receives special training on approaches to enrich daily life and maximize the abilities of these residents. Our unit provides an activity based lifestyle designed to provide stimulation and creativity based on the needs of those diagnosed with dementia. This secure unit, with enclosed patio, provides a safe environment and our support group for families, educates and nurtures loved ones dealing with this debilitating process.

Alzheimer's Support Group is held the 4th Tuesday of each month at 2pm in the Morton Villa Activities Room.

Restorative Nursing

In the Restorative Nursing Department we assess all residents to determine how we can help them maintain as much independence with their daily care as possible. Restorative programs are formalized plans of care, which are individualized for each resident. Some examples of Restorative programs are eating, walking, dressing or transferring. Our Restorative Nursing is an attitude or an approach to care where the individual's ability to control and participate in their care is emphasized.

Therapy

Morton Villa / Morton Terrace Therapy

Our IN HOUSE therapy department is made up of a team of licensed Occupational Therapists, Registered Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants and Speech Therapists. When a resident moves into our homes, they are assessed to determine their therapy needs. We are able to create a customized program designed to improve mobility, strength, communication, swallowing and the performance of activities of daily living (ADL's).

Dietary

Our homes provide balanced diets as instructed by a certified dietician. Our friendly, professional and caring staff are here to assist our residents with special dietary needs. We also cater to special events and provide support for community luncheons.

Beauty Shop

Morton Villa / Morton Terrace Beauty Shop

Both homes offer access to a beauty shop 4 days a week. Appointments are set by families/residents for both men and women. Shampoos, sets, color and perms range from $7.00 to $30.00.

Housekeeping / Laundry

Our laundry department runs 24/7 and is responsible for laundering all clothing and linen at no extra charge. We suggest that a resident bring 7 - 8 outfits per season and use a clothing marker to label each item. Our housekeepers assist in keeping the facility clean and sanitary. We provide general housekeeping duties and maintain polished floors and windows.

Social Services

Our Social Services staff specializes in meeting the psychological well-being of your loved ones. We monitor for adjustments into the facility, making it an easy transition from home or the hospital. We meet the needs of our residents and families with an open line of communication and involvement in activities of daily living, mood and behavior monitoring and discharge planning. We encourage families and residents to vocalize their needs and concerns at anytime.

Activities

Morton Villa / Morton Terrace Activities

Our Activities staff works together with our residents to enhance their self-esteem and sense of well being while promoting their physical, cognitive and emotional health. Activity programs are conducted in both small and large groups, along with one-on-one and self-directed activities. Activities include, but are not limited to:

Resident Trust Fund

Residents of the facility have the right to manage their own financial affairs and handle their own spending money. Residents also have the right to have the facility keep their money in a trust account to safeguard and manage personal spending money. Banking hours are posted throughout the facility. Purchases and withdrawals may be paid out as long as funds are available. Quarterly statements are issued to all residents detailing account activity.
