Financial Assistance
Medicare
Medicare (Part A) pays for skilled nursing care after a 3-day qualifying hospital stay in many cases. You may access this benefit within 30 days of discharge from the hospital. Medicare (Part B) may pay up to 100 days of care in a skilled nursing home per spell of illness. You will be responsible for paying deductible and coinsurance amounts. Our qualified staff at Morton Villa/Morton Terrace can provide additional information regarding these benefits.
Medicare Part A (hospital insurance): This covers inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing home care, hospice care, and some home health care.
Medicare Part B (medical insurance): This covers doctors, outpatient hospital services, and various other medical services not covered under Part A.
You are eligible for Medicare if you are in any of the following categories:
- You are age 65 or older and you are eligible to receive Social Security Retirement, Survivor's benefits, or Railroad Retirement Board Benefits.
- You are under age 65 and you are entitled to receive Social Security Disability benefits or Railroad Retirement Board disability benefits, and have been entitled to those disability benefits for at least 24 consecutive months.
- You are under the age of 65, you have kidney disease requiring dialysis or kidney transplant, and you are insured for Social Security benefits, or you are the spouse or dependent child of someone who is insured for Social Security benefits.
Medicaid
Medicaid is a joint state and federal program administered by the Illinois Department of Public Aid (IDPA), which pays for care in skilled nursing homes and intermediate care facilities. A physician must certify the need for this level of care, and the patient must be income eligible for Medicaid benefits.
Medicaid is a welfare program run by the Illinois Department of Public Aide (IDPA). However the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) is the state agency which actually takes applications and makes eligibility determinations for Medicaid.
To be eligible, your income and assets must be below a certain level. If our income or assets are over the limit, you may be ineligible, or may have to pay some of your medical bills and Medicaid will pay the rest.
Morton Villa and Morton Terrace provides assistance in applying for Medicaid/Public Aide. If you have any questions please refer to the Admissions Director or Business office.
